So at the top of the news, a story about corruption within our government, not that you haven’t heard about something like this before. This story is coming from the MnDOT, and an employee of theirs who took a 2 week hiatus during one of the most critical emergencies the state ever faced. And what is even better, is that she is now working for the Homeland Security’s DOT, the world never ceases to amaze me.

Sonia Pitt was working for MnDOT when that huge bridge collapse a while ago occurred, and during the event she decided to take an unauthorized vacation to Washington using state funds. She was fired by MnDOT for this huge misappropriation of power. But it would seem only 6 months later she is now working for Homeland Security’s DOT.

In news no one cares about, because it’s about California, and only Californians seem to care about California.

An earthquake of 5.4 in magnitude stuck the Los Angeles area. It would seem however those years of developing structures to withstand earthquakes have done quite a deal of good, with reports that damage across the region was essentially minimal.

In 3 Rivers Michigan, a joker was arrested, that’s right, someone decided to imitate the joker in an attempt to make off with some movie posters, sadly the police already knew how he got those scars, and we’re quick to arrest him.

Tired of the MPA?
You’re not tired enough of them yet, you see they have a new plan that they would love to see the FCC adopt. And it even has social benefits on you the user of your television by allowing you to see movie programs a few months earlier on those On Demand movie channels, and the only thing that you have to give up is that the MPAA gets to control all input and output jacks on the back of your television.

That’s right, the proposed Selectable output control would allow the MPA to control all the jacks on the back of your television if the FCC approves, please be sure to check out the link in the transcript for a way to protest

Anthrax?

That’s right apparently the key suspect has committed suicide, and who was said key suspect? It was a leading scientist in the Biodefense agency for the United States. Bruce Ivins was going to be charged with the anthrax deaths that occurred in 2001. He managed to overdose on Tylenol, so we may never find the man truly responsible.

Interesting in its own right, do you guys think he was guilty?

If you went to a New York Yankee’s game recently you may have been surprised. It would seem that in order to stem terrorism, it has been decided that sun block be added to the terror watch list; At least at the Yankee’s game, and on an especially sunny day. And to make up for it, you could even go and get a new bottle of sun block for only $5.00…

This is even better than those bottles of water that clearly were bombs according to the TSA, I mean if I were going to use a bottle of sun block to cause trouble, I could think of much better ways than to use it as a weapon of terror, a nude beach perhaps… but not as a terrorist weapon. You know come to think of it, If I was running around a nude beach with a bottle of sun block, that might just be seen as a weapon of terror >_>

In the paranoid news block
A CNN reporter who did a series on the bloated 1 million name + list that the TSA uses in order to detain you at the airport claims that he too is getting hassled. The TSA is of course denying any allegation that it’s their faults, and claims the airports are to blame. The airports have in turn claimed that were simply going off the list provided by the TSA.

By the way if you would like to find out if you are an America hating terrorist they say that it is pretty easy to find the list. Much to my disappointment I couldn’t find the list to find out if I hated America enough to be detained at an airport. If someone out there can find it, please feel free to point it out the res t of us so we can all get a good laugh.

In News of the Weird,
A man stole buses during the day, drove them on their routes, and returned them at night. He didn’t steal the bus fair, he didn’t hurt the passengers, he just drove the buses on their route and did it all in an employee’s uniform. The motives are a complete mystery, but the man has been charged with 3 counts of grand theft auto.

Having been on the local buses, and imagining the magnification that Miami Florida would perform on the normal attendants of said buses. I think the man should simply be given a check for driving the buses around. I can only imagine the kind of strange faces you see on a bus in Florida, but I suppose if you have the motivation not to get paid for doing a job, you are more than likely fine with those faces.

An elderly woman had her camera confiscated by a council worker across the pond, because of fears that she might be a paedophile. She was taking photos of an empty paddling pool

Now, I would like to say, that it represents a fetish out there, but not the one the council member was thinking of. Horrible image now creeping into your mind aside, please enjoy some more batman theme music.

Obama Speech in Germany

Recently, presidential canidate, Barak Obama, went to Germany to give a wonderful speech to the crowd. Look lets face it folks, John McCain doesn't have a shot in hell of winning this race, the second that he and Senator Obama are put on the same stage for a debate, both McCain's age and horrible ideas will begin to show through, and the message that the democratic party has been pushing for the last year or so might actually begin to show through.

The fact of the matter is that when you look at John McCain's political positions he really does show through as just another Bush Clone. And given people hatred towards our current president... I can't understand why people would even be willing to give this man an ear. I could see maybe a 20%-30% approval rating for McCain, less so than our current president, because I imagine some folks are simply following him because they have some soul bound patriotic duty not to dislike the president (Of course the irony there is that is in fact the very opposite of what this country was founded on, but more on that later).

So anyway with regards to the Obama speech, he hasn't become President of the United States, and he is already responsible for two speeches that will probably ring throughout history for at least the next five years or so. Really, I could care less for all the speeches and the politics, that doesn't change the reality of things, being of course the Europe is still pretty offset about our nature to react so violently to attack. I guess after 1000+ years of internal warfare and conflict, they are simply used to the idea and aren't over reacting to things like terrorist attacks because they are nothing more than a modern day castle ransack. Hell during the roman times entire cities were lost, and Rome sat quietly and sipped wine. The United States hasn't had to endure that, not since the Civil War, and even than it wasn't an outside enemy. The last time an outside enemy was able to lay siege (memorable siege) was the burning of the White House in the war of 1812.

So really I wouldn't be surprised if even while the Europeans we're clapping they weren't a bit thrown off by the terrorism markup. Which I imagine was aimed at appeasing the home front who watches CNN / Faux News.

Anyway, just some thoughts...
